#10: Use Your Head
Have you ever heard that humans only use 10% of their brains? For some reason, it’s a misconception that’s been perpetuated in popular culture for many years. However, neuroscientific research has repeatedly shown that the entire human brain is active and engaged, even when we are at rest. Every region of the brain has a specific purpose and is involved in various functions.
Imaging technologies like functional MRI demonstrate that different parts of the brain are active at different times and during different activities. The origin of this myth is unclear but may be rooted in misunderstandings or misinterpretations of early neurological research, or maybe it’s easy to think that some people just don’t use their brains.
