#30: You Touch It, You Buy It
We love it when antique shops adopt a bit of an attitude. These stores are full of history and experience, so we think they’ve earned the right to be more than a little snarky. This particular store wants to make sure its shoppers know that the employees are ready to judge them the moment they walk through the door.
This small but forceful sign reminds shoppers, “Please feel free to touch the items you intend to purchase.” Basically, if you touch any of the shop’s precious cargo, you better be prepared to pay. Don’t even bother looking at it if you can’t afford it. We’re not sure if this passive-aggressive sign motivates shoppers to spend money or deters them from even entering the store.
