#7: Polygamy Might be Allowed in the Afterlife
Even though the official Mormon church, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, officially ended the practice of polygamy in 1890, it still holds onto the belief that it might be part of heavenly arrangements. In the Mormon faith, men can be sealed to multiple wives in the afterlife if one passes away or in case of divorce, ensuring all their marriages are honored for eternity.
However, it’s crucial to note that the LDS Church has distanced itself from the approximately 40,000 fundamentalist Mormons who continue to practice polygamy in the United States. The church has been vocal against television programs like HBO’s Big Love and TLC’s Sister Wives, criticizing them for perpetuating outdated stereotypes about the Mormon faith.
