#38: Barney’s Character
We already talked about how the popular sitcom How I Met Your Mother has one very basic flaw: the story in its entirety is told from the perspective of Ted, an unreliable narrator. Here’s another fan who claims that Ted’s narration is unreliable, especially when it comes to Barney’s character.
Ted portrays Barney as some kind of superficial, egoistic womanizer who lacks depth and emotional maturity. As this person points us, he has a very obvious motive to portray him in such a way: to enhance his own image. Compared to Barney, Ted comes off as a saint! Maybe Ted is jealous of Barney, hence the unfair depiction.
