Home Remedies
There are many home remedies that are supposed to treat different ailments that have been passed down through generations – but some of them should have stayed in the past. Contrary to popular belief, applying butter to a burn is not only ineffective but can actually worsen the injury. Butter does not possess any medicinal properties that promote healing, and its moisture-retaining properties can trap heat, exacerbating the burn and potentially leading to infection.
The correct first aid response to a burn is to cool the affected area with cold, running water for at least 10-20 minutes to alleviate pain and prevent further tissue damage. Afterward, you can apply a clean, sterile dressing to protect the burn from infection. Essentially, relying on outdated remedies like using butter can lead to more harm than good.
