Mistake: The location on Marshall’s location says Los Angeles instead of New York City
TV shows often strive to create an authentic atmosphere for their viewers, especially when depicting real-life locations like New York City. However, sometimes, careful planning can fall short. In the sitcom How I Met Your Mother, a TV blunder regarding the show’s actual filming location became noticeable to eagle-eyed viewers.
During one episode, the characters are in MacLaren’s, their beloved hangout spot, when Marshall enters and excitedly announces that Woody Allen is dining at a local restaurant. To quickly plan their route, Barney pulls out his laptop, displaying a map of New York City. While the map itself is accurate, a subtle detail in the top right-hand corner reveals the true filming location: Los Angeles, on the other side of the country.
