Fun Facts about Ragdoll Cats

April 13, 2021 by Toyama Akiko

Ragdoll cats are one of the more popular cat breeds around the world. These beautiful cats grow to be 8-15 lbs if they’re male, whereas a female can grow to be 12-20 lbs. These large stocky but proportionate cats are super docile and the perfect cat breed for families with young children.

Today we’re featuring some fun facts about ragdoll cats so you can learn more about this beautiful cat.

They Have Beautiful Eyes

Every single Ragdoll cat out there has the most beautiful eyes. While every Ragdoll may have a different eye shape or shade of blue, it’s important to know that every purebred Ragdoll has blue eyes. The beauty of their eyes is part of what makes them a popular breed for cat owners everywhere.

Largest Domestic Cat

Ragdoll cats are one of the largest domesticated cat breeds out there. While they do have a lot of fur their weight isn’t due to that large coat. These cats truly weigh a lot and can grow up to 20lbs in weight over their lifetime.

Dog-Like Personalities

The reason why these cats are so popular is that they have a dog-like personality. Ragdoll cats are loyal and playful like dogs are. This makes them more closely identifiable with dogs more than cats. Some Ragdoll cats have been known to greet their owner and show loyalty to family much as a dog would.

Quiet Cats

Ragdoll cats are quiet by nature. They don’t talk a lot aka meow at you but this can be concerning as they tend to not even talk when they’re in pain. Many will be in discomfort but still lie on your lap purring, but remember not all Ragdoll cats will be quiet. Ask the breeder about your cat before purchasing him or her, so you’ll know if you’re getting a talker or more refined Ragdoll cat.

Born Pure White

Ragdoll kittens are born pure white. That color combination you see on the coats of adult Ragdolls wasn’t always there. This breed is typically born pure white and their color arrives somewhere between two and four weeks of age. It’s fun to witness this color transition as the kittens’ age after being born to a breeder.

These are just some of the fun facts about Ragdoll cats we wanted to share with you today. Each of these fun facts reminds us just how loveable and cute this cat breed is. Now we know even more so why people opt to invest in a pure bed Ragdoll cat over any other cat breed in the world.
