#23: Boy at Pop Stand, General Store, Lamoille, Iowa, 1939
So many things are wonderfully nostalgic about this particular black-and-white photo. From the farm boy in his corduroy overall to the classic general store setting, to the bottles of pop and the sign advertising Old-style bologna. Gazing at this feels just like stepping into a working time machine.
I think there is something real about the kind of nostalgia this photo evokes. It’s not just about a seemingly more glamorous bygone era. It’s about a time when we were more connected to the processes that gave us our produce, going down to the general store for a pop bottle, not grabbing another mass-produced soda at the supermarket.
