#16: Women Making “Rubber Soul” by the Beatles at Hayes Vinyl Factory, 1965
The Beatles are perhaps one of the biggest cultural phenomena of the 20th Century. When we think of John, Paul, George, and Ringo, there are multitudes of images that pop into our heads, from their waving from the plane in America to recording in the studio to the Abbey Road album cover.
An image that comes to mind much less readily is this one of women assembling the ‘Rubber Soul’ album cover at the Hayes Vinyl Factory. It’s interesting to think about how much goes on behind the scenes to create the cultural phenomena we hear on our speakers or see on our screens.
