The Strangest Animal Stories Ever

July 18, 2021 by Emma Cooper

There are so many strange animal stories out there in the world to watch, listen to, and read about. Today we wanted to feature some of the strangest animal stories we’ve heard thus far this year. We hope that you enjoy these strange stories, and perhaps some of the stories will make you feel less alone in your strange animal experiences.

Cicadas Get High

Apparently, some cicadas were high on a fungus in 2019. There was some sort of fungus that’s full of amphetamines and hallucinogens. This led the cicadas to go into a sex-crazed situation. Males were going after males, females after females, and males after females. It was a mess!

A Clam That Eats Rocks

Yes, it’s true! Scientists have found a clam that has an odd snack habit. This shipworm is an odd looking calm who enjoys eating rocks. This shipworm doesn’t eat wood like the other clams do, instead it consumes rocks for snacks. Scientists are still studying this strange habit of this shipworm.

Python Pukes Another Python

Yes, it’s true! This man moved one gigantic python only to find that it puked up another python. Somehow this python was able to consume another python by doing what humans do when they don’t quite fit into an outfit, they just slowly squish their body into the outfit. This gigantic python just slowly squished the other python in until he swallowed it down.

Female Komodo Dragon Doesn’t Need Sperm

A female komodo dragon named Flora who lives at the Chester Zoo in London laid eight eggs after undergoing what they call a ‘virgin conception’. The technical term for it is  parthenogenesis, and there are only 70 species that can reproduce without male sperm using this process.

Head Banging Cockatoo

This cockatoo doesn’t just head bang, he actually changes up his head banging to go with the tuen of whatever music the scientists play for him. This fascinated humans and so they continue to study this viral head banging cockatoo named Snowball.

There you have it, the strangest animal stories ever. We hope that you enjoyed reading these and will share with friends and family to read, too!
