Eurasian Red Squirrel
This red squirrel is often seen in Europe and Asia. The population of the Eurasian Red Squirrel is on the decline though since the gray squirrel has started to take over the area in Italy, Ireland, and England.
Japanese Squirrel
This petite-looking squirrel is only found in Japan. They are adorable with their little bodies and less fluffy fur than other breeds of squirrel.

You won’t see this squirrel out and about in any area other than Vietnam, Cambodia, and Myanmar as well as Laos.
Grizzled Giant Squirrel
This squirrel is closely related to the India squirrel featured below. It spends most of its life in trees and can jump nearly 20 feet from tree to tree.
Malabar Giant Squirrel
This tree squirrel resides in India and is becoming increasingly popular due to its beautiful coat of fur. The Malabar Giant grows to be twice as a big as the average gray squirrel.

Some of the Malabar Giant squirrels do appear to look similar to what one would call a rainbow squirrel. If you want to know if rainbow squirrels are real, then the simple answer is yes. They are not called rainbow squirrels, but their colors do resemble that of a rainbow.
