Whether adopting a shelter dog made a huge difference in your life or you were in trouble later on and your shelter dog saved you, we all know at least one dog story of a pooch saving someone’s life.
There are some things to consider before adopting a dog from the shelter. For example, this is a long-term commitment. Your dog may live a long life and be a part of your family for many years.

Rescued from Fire
A dog was found wanding the highway back in 2015. The husband and wife that found this dog, later named Capone, saved him from a life of homelessness by bringing him home to be their family pet.
Later on, about a year and a half later, Capone alerted the family to a fire before it engulfed their home. Capone saved his owners and their nine children that night.

Saved from Assault
A 5-month old fearless pitbull saved his owner’s life from assault. While walking the pup one evening in Brooklyn, after her boyfriend adopted Apollo the fearless pitbull, she was pushed down by a stranger. The stranger grabbed her headphones and shoved her to the ground, Apollo stepped in between the assaulter and the victim and bit the person trying to assault the lady.
Apollo bit the person so hard that it took a minute for them to run away, thus our story of how a shelter dog named Apollo saved his owner’s girlfriend’s life.

Saved from Home Invasion
A dog named Axel, rescued from a shelter, went on to save a great-grandmother from a home invasion. When the robber entered the home, Axel pounced on the intruder, bit him, and chased him down the street.
This just goes to show you that sheltered dogs know where their loyalties lie and will do anything to protect the human that saved their life.

Saved from Diabetic Coma
Jazzy, a shelter pup rescued by Micheal in Phoenix helped save his owner from a diabetic coma. Back in 2018 Michael’s blood sugar levels dropped really low and it was Jazzy who sensed something was wrong.
Jazzy kept barking nonstop until she got the attention of Michael’s mom who eventually got to Michael to find that he was unconscious and Jazzy was standing on him trying to ‘revive’ him by jumping on his chest and bumping her face into his face.

Saved From a Bear
An elderly shelter dog saved her family from a bear. This dog was adopted to help protect the 35-acre property that her new owners had. One day the doggy happened upon a few bear cubs and the Mom Bear thought the dog posed a threat.
The bear tried to attack the shelter dog, Shelby, but Shelby fought long and hard. She did suffer from some mishaps from that fight but lived to tell the tale.
