#7: Still Valued
As someone whose parents recently became empty nesters, this really hit close to home. It would be strange to spend 18 years or more of your life working tirelessly trying to keep a number of small humans alive—especially when those small humans sometimes do the most ridiculous things—and then suddenly have them leave home and leave you with little to do.

I love this writer’s solution: to continue to reach out to her parents for advice, so they know that they are still valued and still useful. Plus, with all their years of experience on earth, our parents usually do have great advice, so continuing to ask for it even after you’ve left home is a great idea.
