#48: Been There
We all have our own insecurities, and that’s something we have to learn how to deal with. This person has dealt with a lot of insecurities in the past, which allowed him to grow as a person eventually. Our storyteller now has a habit of smiling and making eye contact with the “less attractive” women who pass him on the street. It’s a subtle gesture, but one that can make all the difference in the world to someone with low self-esteem.

The storyteller knows this firsthand, having been on the receiving end of similar gestures back in high school. Those little acts of kindness from popular girls inspired our narrator to work harder, be more social, and become a better version of themselves. It’s a beautiful reminder that sometimes, the smallest gestures of kindness can have the biggest impact on someone’s life. And it’s a call to all of us to be kind to one another, to look beyond appearances and see the person underneath.
