#33: I Guess High School Really Is Just a Popularity Contest
My school did not do any kind of “buy someone a gift and it will be delivered during class on Valentine’s Day” program, and I’m really glad they didn’t. It’s bad enough when cards are being delivered quietly, and you see whether or not people like you; it’s got to be worse when classes are being interrupted so that everyone’s attention can be drawn to who is popular and who is not.
It doesn’t seem fair, although, as the great film Sky High says, “If life were to suddenly get fair, I doubt it would happen in high school.” At least this person found a way to make sure people who were most likely to be left out by this school tradition would have a great day and a nice confidence boost.
