After Family Ties, Michael J. Fox became one of Hollywood’s biggest stars, launching to global fame with Back to the Future and other hit films. He won multiple Emmys and Golden Globes, becoming a defining face of 1980s entertainment.

In the 1990s, he revealed he had Parkinson’s disease, and over time shifted to advocacy and writing. He founded the Michael J. Fox Foundation, which has raised over a billion dollars for Parkinson’s research. Though mostly retired from acting, he occasionally makes appearances and is beloved for his humor, optimism, and courage in the face of illness.
