Weird Things Cats Love to Eat

December 20, 2020 by brandyellen

Has your cat ever eaten something that you just can’t fathom how they enjoyed it? Cats all over the world eat some of the weirdest things and today we’re going to share some of those weird things that cats just love to eat!

Everything Bread

Pet cats are often obsessed with eating everything bread. They’ll try to steal your bagel, pizza, and sandwich just to get a little taste of that bread you’re enjoying on your plate. If you don’t share with them, they’re apt to sit and meow at you while giving you the death stare until you share your bread!

Pizza

While yes, pet cats will go crazy for your pizza crust some cats love getting into pizza for the tomato sauce. This is the last thing we’d ever think a pet cat would love, but it’s true they just love it! Many cat owners have said that they’ve caught their cats eating ripe tomatoes and eventually begging like crazy for their pizza only to find the cat wasn’t eating the cheese topping, rather the tomato sauce.

Olives

One pet cat owner said that his pet cat just loves olives! The human starting eating olives as a new snack idea and their cat just simply couldn’t resist. This particular cat owner found their cat’s paw in the olive jar trying to fish out an olive for a snack on more than one occasion.

Vegetarian Chicken

One cat owner shared a story about her cat stealing vegetarian chicken out of the fridge. There were plenty of other choices such as cheese or steak but nope, this cat opted to steal the vegetarian chicken and try to gobble it down before her owner took it away.

Why is my cat eating weird things?

While these pet cat stories feature weird things cats love to eat, there are other times when you might be concerned about what your cat is eating. The best way to determine if your cat is sick is to watch what they’re eating and how often they eat. Your cat may be eating weird things because they’re missing important nutrients in their diet.

Then there are other weird things that cats start to eat when they’re experiencing a sickness. Cats may eat non-food items whenever they’re suffering from a medical condition. If you find that your cat is chewing on and consuming non-food items then you may want to contact a vet to have your cat checked out for other illnesses.

The first time a random food falls to the floor and your pet cat comes running to try it out, is the first time you realize that your pet cat really enjoys weird foods. You’d expect a pet cat to love cheese or meat, but when they start enjoying apple slices or olives, you have to wonder what’s wrong with your cat.

Your cat may be enjoying some of your favorite snacks as much as you do because they love you and look up to you. Your pet cat may just want to mimic you and enjoy the quality time together while you both enjoy a weird treat together.
