Sometimes, it seems like designers are obtuse on purpose. Take this modern park bench, for example. The design looks sleek, minimalist, and modern. However, this bench is completely ineffective when out in the real world. The bench has a dip, making it turn into a gross public bathtub whenever it rains. 

As you can see, this bench has been collecting water for quite a while. It’s covered in dirt and grime that no city employee wants to clean off. To make matters worse, the bench is white, so the dirt is especially obvious. This bench either needs a deep clean or a one-way ticket to the dump.
