#20: A Bad Hypothesis
Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time…in Hollywood came out in 2019 to much fanfare and press. During a press conference in Cannes, a reporter asked why A-list actor Margot Robbie had very few lines in the film. Quentin, who sensed that the question was implying sexism on his part, simply responded, “Well, I just reject your hypothesis.”
He didn’t say anything else. Margot then swooped in and answered the question by saying she felt that her role was better conveyed in actions rather than words. It was a diplomatic answer that, honestly, saved the situation from becoming too awkward. Quentin is known for liking his art to speak for itself, so his response isn’t really surprising.
