#17: It’s No Joke
Joaquin Phoenix won an Oscar for his starring role in Joker. While Joaquin undoubtedly did an excellent job portraying the Joker, the film was controversial. Many people felt the movie was too sympathetic to the male “lone wolf” figure, which didn’t sit well with some because of real-life events happening across the US.
Reporter Robbie Collin from The Telegraph tried to address these criticisms in an interview with Joaquin, but it backfired. Robbie asked if Joaquin was afraid the film would “inspire violence” because it showed sympathy for a violent, murderous character. Joaquin took offense and immediately walked out, bringing an abrupt end to the interview.
