A Russian Perspective
Someone from Russia chimed in on things they found weird about American culture, and it’s a very interesting point of view. On top of the critiques about our obsession with consumerism and capitalism, they highlighted things they found odd that many of us take for granted here in the States.
First off, they think it’s so weird that we tend to say hi and compliment strangers when we’re out and about. The frequency of friendliness varies from region to region, but Americans tend to greet strangers more often when compared to their Russian counterparts. This person said it’s because Russians are more shy and reserved. Whatever the reason, it’s definitely an interesting cultural difference.
