A Cutting Commentary
Circumcision is one of the oldest surgical procedures, with the earliest evidence dating back thousands of years ago in ancient Egypt. People in the United States still largely practice circumcision, whether for health or religious reasons. However, there are some people who find the topic of circumcision controversial and think it’s weird that a lot of Americans circumcise their newborn babies.

While some people might not agree with the practice, it’s ultimately up to the infant’s family. Generally speaking, doctors in the US began recommending circumcision because they believed it reduced the chances of cancer, STIs, and the transmission of other diseases. While some studies have shown some health benefits, it’s not a totally necessary procedure.
