#3: Illness Teaches Her Grit
At age six, Frida got polio, which left her right leg thinner and caused a limp. Kids teased her, but she fought back with defiance. She joined sports like boxing and swimming, determined to prove she was strong. Even as a child, she refused to be underestimated or pitied.

Spending so much time alone also shaped her inner world. While other kids played outside, she read, imagined, and created stories to keep herself company. That inner strength would become her foundation, helping her survive the pain and isolation that would come later in her life.
