#49: Vermont
Vermont, one of the nation’s least populated states, secured the top spot with the highest percentage of inbound moves in 2021. Impressively, over 43% of newcomers pinpointed job opportunities as their primary reason for relocating. The state boasts one of the lowest unemployment rates in the U.S., though it may not be the best place for starting a business due to high operating costs.

While Vermont offers picturesque landscapes and recreational activities, it also presents challenges, such as substantial snowfall and a high cost of living. However, it’s the sense of community and friendly interactions with neighbors that often make Vermont more than just a “nice place to live.”
