Nicolas Cage met makeup artist Erika Koike while filming Primal and began dating quietly. Their relationship stayed mostly out of the public eye until they shocked everyone by getting married in Las Vegas in March 2019 after a night out.

The marriage imploded almost immediately. Cage filed for annulment just four days later, citing intoxication and lack of understanding of what he was doing. It became one of the shortest legal marriages in Hollywood history.
