#7: Armed Violence Surges Across The Country
Armed groups are once again spreading through Colombia’s countryside. In regions once controlled by the FARC, new factions and old cartels are fighting for territory. Villages that once saw peace are now caught in gunfire, forcing families to flee their homes and abandon everything they’ve built.

The government’s peace deals have struggled to hold. Without a strong state presence, rebel splinter groups, paramilitaries, and drug traffickers move in. For many Colombians, daily life still means living between fear and survival, where peace remains a promise rather than a reality.
