#33: Extreme Weather Brings Deadly Floods And Landslides
Colombia is facing stronger storms and heavier rains each year. In 2024, flooding and landslides destroyed homes, bridges, and crops across several regions, killing dozens and leaving thousands homeless. Many small towns are still recovering from damage that wiped out entire neighborhoods.

Experts blame climate change and deforestation for worsening these disasters. Forests that once absorbed rainfall have been cleared, leaving bare soil that collapses easily. With weather growing more unpredictable, Colombians are seeing natural disasters become a regular part of life instead of rare emergencies.
