The Daring and Mysterious Life of Amelia Earhart

Amelia and Fred began their first attempt to fly around the world in March 1937. Starting from California, they made it to Hawaii before disaster struck. During takeoff for the next leg, their plane ground-looped on the runway and was badly damaged. Thankfully, neither of them was seriously hurt.

The crash was a huge setback. Amelia had to ship the plane back to California for repairs, and critics questioned if the trip was too risky. Still, she refused to give up. She saw it as a lesson, not a failure, and began planning a second attempt immediately.
