#5: Anthony Michael Hall Then
Anthony Michael Hall stole scenes as Ted “The Geek,” the overconfident yet endearingly awkward freshman obsessed with Samantha. With his gangly energy, rapid-fire delivery, and hidden sweetness, Hall turned a caricature into a fully fleshed character. He delivered much of the film’s comedy while showing Ted’s surprising vulnerability beneath the bravado.

Hall brought impeccable timing and physical humor, making Ted both ridiculous and relatable. His performance captured the desperation and insecurity of teenage boys while still keeping him likable. It was a breakout role that cemented Hall as one of the defining teen actors of the 1980s.
