Arabian Al-Khali Desert Fills With Water Due to Tropical Cyclone
The world’s largest continuous sand desert is the Rub’ al-Khali, encompassing a third of the Arabian Peninsula. It’s also considered to be the most sun-baked, driest location in the entire world. Well, most of the time.

In the spring of 2018, a gust of refreshing rainwater completely flooded the dunes of sand when Mekunu, a Tropical Cyclone, tore through the desert. Aerial shots of the new, cyclone showered dunes are absolutely mind-boggling.
