Crushing the Competition
Being an only child has its advantages and disadvantages, but all kids go through a period where they wish they had siblings, and they pester their parents with questions on when they’re going to have a baby brother or sister. Some parents take it in stride, and others come up with creative answers – like this dad in the story below.
When his kid asked if he’s going to have a brother or sister, he would say, “Son, you’re an only child and still not the favorite – I don’t think competition is going to help you achieve that.” Say what you will, but this is a brilliant response. We know he was kidding, but it was probably convincing enough to satisfy his son.
