#45: A Real Emergency
Some of these stories have been about silly, inconsequential things; at worst, they might cost the company a little money or inconvenience a customer for a while. But depending on what your job is, what you do could be deadly serious, and mistakes that you make could be deadly for other people.
A 911 operator is one such job. You would think that if you had that job, you would be extremely careful about following all the correct procedures, knowing that if you got something wrong, someone could be in danger. But apparently not that guy! His carelessness meant that he might get sent calls while he was in the bathroom and not pick them up. That could be a matter of life and death for the person on the other end. The moral of the story is, don’t become a 911 operator if you’re not going to take it seriously.
