Surprising Stories from the Set of Three’s Company

Early in the run of Three’s Company, producer Michael Ross and the creative team asked John Ritter, Joyce DeWitt, and Suzanne Somers to sing the show’s theme song themselves. All three actors flatly refused the idea.

At the time, none of them wanted to be associated with a novelty-style theme or feel pressured into a musical role. The situation is especially ironic in hindsight, since Suzanne Somers later became a successful Las Vegas performer with a well-known singing career after leaving the show.
