#36: Punctuation Matters
This quote is for all the grammar lovers out there. These two sentences have the same words in them, but a single period changes the meaning entirely. The first sentence, “I’m giving up drinking until Christmas,” is a pretty admirable goal. It’s definitely something a responsible adult would do! The second sentence has an additional period and a completely different meaning.
While we don’t condone drinking in excess, we understand this sentiment. Family, friends, and social functions can be a lot during the holiday season. Feeling burnt out may make people feel like giving up, ditching appearances, and living a little.
