Colorful ketchup
Heinz EZ Squirt Ketchup, released in 2000, was an effort to encourage kids to eat more ketchup. It came in three crazy colors: green, blue, and purple. If you’re shaking your head, don’t worry–you’re not the only one. Ketchup is definitely meant to be red – it’s supposedly made of tomatoes, right? – and Heinz realized that when their colorful product completely flopped.
Most people agreed with that logic, which is why the EZ Squirt Ketchup did stick around for six years before production was finally halted. Somewhere out there, there’s a generation of kids who were forced to eat some truly strange-looking ketchup… We’re just not quite sure what the appeal of this product was supposed to be.
