Crystal Pepsi
Ah, yet another Pepsi fail. In 1992, consumers were becoming more concerned with various health issues. They were looking for healthier products, and PepsiCo introduced Crystal Pepsi as a way to avoid caffeine while still enjoying your favorite soda. But Crystal Pepsi wasn’t just caffeine-free. It was also completely clear in color, which was quite different than traditional Pepsi.
Sadly, Crystal Pepsi was a terrible failure for PepsiCo. Consumers hated the taste, which was bitter rather than sweet. Some even said it tasted more like Sprite, minus the citrus-y flavor. Crystal Pepsi’s sales never took off, and PepsiCo was forced to add the beverage to its growing list of product fails.
