Pets That Make Humans Take a Double Look

January 4, 2022 by Jessica Meyer

Pets can be a wonderful thing for many reasons. They’re comforting, they provide love and affection, and they just look cute! However, there are some pets that people may accidentally mistake for other things or animals altogether!

These pets will make you do a double take and possibly even frighten you!

1. The ‘raccoon-cat’

This little guy is what we call the result of an overzealous face licking session.  Not many people want to admit they want to try this, but it’s really not that bad… until your cat turns into a raccoon! No one wants a pet that looks like it fell in a pool of mud and has been rolling around in it for hours.

2. The ‘bird-rat’

This bird’s owner should have watched the movie, ‘The Birds’ because this situation would have been avoided if they did. Now, this poor bird is stuck with a rat for an owner! If you cannot tell, this is not some sort of dog-bird hybrid.

It’s actually just a bird that someone found in the attic of their home and thought they would keep as a pet. Unfortunately, after owning it for too long, they realized that it had grown into what it is now.

3. The ‘cat-koala’

This is what happens when you get a pet that you think will stay small forever. Unfortunately for the owner, they realized far too late that koalas are actually very large animals! This little guy turned into what it is now after being fed properly by its owner. That means it’s probably not going back to normal.

4. The ‘chihuahua-rabbit’

This is the result of what happens when an owner thinks their dog needs baby animal friends to play with. They may think they know what breeds are compatible together, but that does not always end up well. This little guy probably can’t be helped in any way.

5. The ‘dog-pig’

If you thought a pig was going to be a cute addition to your family, think again! These furry little guys are not exactly the best when it comes to being pets. In fact, they’ll probably end up in the food industry because that’s where they belong in all honesty.

6. The ‘dog-turtle’

No one wants to think about their dog growing up and taking on the shape of other animals, but this is what happens. Turtles are not exactly the best pets, to begin with unless you like having something that could potentially kill you in your own home!

7. The ‘ferret-rabbit’

This is another case of someone thinking their dog needs a friend, but it might have been an accident. This little guy turned into what you see after being fed the wrong kind of food for years! If this were to happen in real life, no respectable animal shelter would adopt it out. It’s not exactly something that can live a normal life.

In conclusion, your pets don’t really need to have a pet but it’s rather funny reading the stories of people who have pets that make us take a double look.
