The cat’s out of the bag
When a shocking secret is revealed, they say that the cat is out of the bag. Did you ever stop to think about the origin of this phrase? Some people argue it goes as far back as the 1500s, and others say the phrase is associated with the Royal Navy Vessels. Some people say neither is correct, and the origin of the phrase remains unknown.
Either way, cats do love sitting inside bags, so it’s no surprise to find this little guy there. The only good thing about cats sitting in bags, boxes and other dark, small places, is that when they come out of their hiding, you get to exclaim “the cat is out of the bag!” Next time you’re looking for your cat, thinking he might have run off, try looking inside bags.
