Before you roll your eyes at the slang your teenage nieces or nephews use, you might want to stop and think about it. According to linguists, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with keeping up with the times. You wouldn’t want those teenagers to think you are an ancient fossil, would you?
Of course, you wouldn’t. That’s why linguists want to dispel the misconception that there’s any sort of right or wrong when it comes to the English language. Don’t get on your high horses and think you know all the words and correct dialects for them. Linguists argue that you do not.
