Do you know the periodic table as well as you think you do? Sorry, but most chemists beg to differ. Although there are many misconceptions about their profession, there’s one that drives them more insane than all the others. Please stop thinking that small molecule drugs were discovered lying around.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Chemists spend years, sometimes entire lifetimes, creating new combinations of therapeutic drugs. Chemists don’t go on expeditions and dig them out of the ground or deep-sea dive for a new molecular treatment. No, they create today’s wonder drugs right there in their labs.
