The year was 1988. The location? Seoul, South Korea, where that year’s Olympics were held. America revealed the attire for their sprinters, which were clearly created with aerodynamics in mind. These skintight one-pieces look more like they belong poolside than on a track. But hey, whatever gets results, right?

In fact, the woman in the above image appears as though she might be swimming rather than sprinting, especially with the cap. We wonder if hair plays a role in minimizing a runner’s speed. Most likely not. It’s probably just a fashion statement, as everything was in the 1980s.
