22. The South Pacific
The South Pacific nation of The Cook Islands competed in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. While it’s a smaller country that seldom gets attention, the competition served as a way for it to make a fashionable statement. For the opening ceremony, the team boasted festive green uniforms.
The women wore simple green dresses while the men sported green button-down shirts with black pants. To keep in line with Rio’s “island vibe,” the women’s heads were adorned with floral tiaras, and the men wore leis. We love this look. It’s simple while simultaneously honoring the country’s culture and acknowledging that of Rio’s tropical feel.
