Olympics Costumes That Made a Statement

The Aussies made a fashion statement for the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles. Despite the eventual fumble in 1992, this ensemble is a win in our book. The woman in the photo below is wearing a yellow summer dress adorned with koala bears, the national animal, and a cute hat.

Now, the man is also sporting a wide-brimmed, Panama Jack-esque hat with a white short-sleeve shirt and slacks. They’re both rather sleek. Dare we say too cool for school? This is a killer look. Very “day-at-the-races.” We’re here for it. Not everything in terms of 1980s fashion was a strikeout, thankfully.
