#10: Farrell’s Ice Cream Parlour (1963-2019)
Farrell’s was more than a place to go when you needed a cool treat. Your parents may have loved this place because it was designed to look like early 20th-century parlors. It was a great place for a date, too, with self-playing pianos and some class to it.
Ownership changes were to blame for Farrell’s decline. Mariott bought and sold the chain, which was in steep decline by 1982. Some independently run locations lasted a long time, but the last one seemed to close in 2019.
