If you have a dog who prefers the couch, the bed, and pretty much anything that’s not his own doggie bed, then I bet you’ve looked at all of his odd sleeping habits and wondered what you can do to make him sleep in his own bed.
You’d be surprised at some of the items people use for their dog’s beds.

Old Sneakers
Who knows why dogs are so picky about their doggie bed material, but if you have an odd bed eater like some people do then it’s always good to keep old shoes around just in case the mood strikes.
A piece of carpet
I don’t know about you but I think dogs are pretty smart for knowing that carpets are actually the best things to sleep on. It’s just so cozy and warm, not to mention your dog feels like he has his own personal cave!
An old jacket
Imagine how much your dog loves you if he’s willing to sleep on the same old coat that you’ve had since high school.

A pile of dirty laundry
It might seem like a good idea at first because you still get to wear the clothes, but after two or three washes it gets pretty ripe in there!
An old comforter from the 80s
In every house, there’s always one family member who doesn’t throw out anything and has a collection of stuff from the past 30 years. In some homes it might be old 8-tracks, in others, it might be an old comforter with every design from the 80s.
An expensive pillow
I know they can get pricey but if you’re willing to let your dog sleep on your $300 European goose down pillow then I would say that’s perfect proof of how much you love him!
An old bed frame with the mattress still attached
If your dog sleeps on beds that are way too big for him, I’ve discovered that you can actually get away with letting them sleep on full size beds!

What should I put in my dogs bed?
Pillows, duvets and cushions are all incredibly comfortable and some dogs prefer these softer materials to sleep on. Make sure your dog’s bed is warm enough in the winter and cool enough in the summer: a good way to do this is by putting a blanket over your dog’s old blanket from their previous bed.
So there you have it, there are plenty of odd things that people have used to keep their pet dog happy and comfy for a good night’s sleep.
