#25: That’s Not Funny
Texting abbreviations and slang can be confusing for anyone, but it can be even more confusing if you’re part of an older generation that didn’t grow up with texting as a main form of communication. This poor grandma accidentally said the wrong thing via text, but she didn’t even realize what she was saying was totally inappropriate until it was too late.
Grandma had texted “LOL” to this Twitter user after getting news about a family member getting hurt. When she was asked why she sent that rude abbreviation, she was totally confused. From her understanding, “LOL” meant “lots of love.” Just a heads up for anyone that doesn’t know- that is definitely not what “LOL” means. It means “laugh out loud,” which is definitely not what you want to hear from your grandma after you’ve just shared some bad news!
