Twitter Users Share Words of Wisdom (and More) From Their Grandmothers

This tweet starts off with a pretty reasonable-sounding Nana quote, and then it veers off and out to the left field. According to Joan, her grandmother always said to wear sensible shoes. This seems like pretty solid life advice, but Joan’s grandma wasn’t recommending her personal sense of fashion for the reasons you might think. 

Every woman should wear sensible shoes in order to run away from “mad dogs and Englishmen” whenever necessary. Obviously! Why else would someone need to wear sensible shoes? We’ve lost count of how many times we’ve needed to drop everything and run because a crazed Englishman is running after us. Happens all the time!
