#48: Stop Apologizing
If this isn’t me, I don’t know what is. It’s nice to know I’m not the only one who feels this way. Every work email I send (and some personal messages as well), looks like this. It starts with “sorry to bug you,” as if I have to right to make this request, continues with, “totally fine if you can’t”, as if my request isn’t important, and a couple more apologies to close it off nicely.
Asking our coworkers and even our colleagues for help shouldn’t be this hard. We have the right to ask for help, and we shouldn’t apologize for it. We have a place in this world! Wow, this has somehow turned into an empowering lecture, while it was supposed to be a funny list of tweets and memes to cum up 2021 work life.
