Pulut Hitam Pie
Malaysia has its own version of apple pie on the McDonald’s menu. It’s known as Pulut Hitam Pie, and you can take a peek at what it looks like in the image below. The dark purple-colored substance that serves as the pie’s filling is black glutinous rice. Rice is very popular in Southeast Asia and is used in different dishes, even desserts.
So, is it a sweet pie? Yes, black glutinous rice is naturally sweet despite the “rice” in its name. Color us intrigued (pun very much intended). We’ve got a sweet tooth and a Pulut Hitam Pie may be the dessert to scratch our sweet treat itch. That’s one of the reasons why a trip to Mcdonald’s is worth it if you find yourself in Southeast Asia.
