#33: There’s Something in My Egg
You might think this egg is a little creepy, and you might be right. If you haven’t heard of century eggs, they are a kind of Chinese delicacy preserved by placing eggs in a mixture of clay, ash, and salt for a number of weeks or months—producing a strange taste, color, and texture.
Eggs that develop this pine-branch-like pattern on the inside are considered to be the best quality. It certainly looks extremely pretty and could even be included in an art exhibition if you ask me. However, I’m not sure that I’d like to taste it. It looks like something is growing in it…and not a chicken.
